It’s Day 7 and we are sharing Holiday Decor Ideas!
Idea 1- Use Oversize Ornaments
Instead of a fireplace screen or candle holder, I grabbed my faux mercury glass candlesticks and secured the ornaments on top! Use removable mounting squares to secure and remove before creating a fire or in my case using a remote ( I know convenient but man do I miss a real fireplace!).
Idea 2- Build a Lantern
This was a last minute project. We took scrap 4×4’s and attached them to wood discs that we cut out of more scraps. The disc diameter measured the same as the bottom of the pot. We then took leftover sand and filled the pots to secure posts.
We cut discs the size of the bottom of the lanterns and attached to the top of the post. Then, we attached the lantern to the disc with woods screws.
To camouflage the sand, I just tucked faux greenery around the base. I left the lanterns in their natural color because I liked how it picked the color up in the stone entry table.
Idea 3- Add color to your table with chair scarves
I purchased these table runners from Amazon. I cut them in half and sewed a channel or hem on the “cut” side. I then took a thin dowel and slid it through the channel opening and tucked it into the back of the chair to secure the scarf.
Idea 4- Simplify the garland
I love a good full swag as much as the next gal but some years, life gets busier than normal. Last year I simply tied this ribbon on my garland and I loved the beautiful simplicity of it. This year, I am thinking of adding small swags on the stairs…even simpler look.
Idea 5- Paint a large piece of artwork
This piece of simple art was super easy to make. I love the “child-like” painting nestled in the elegant greenery. You can find the tutorial here. We are officially at the halfway point of our top ten simple Christmas decor ideas!
Idea 6- Create cute ornaments with paint
This was a fun project that the kids can do. A little acrylic paint swirled inside the vintage light bulb style ornament makes for a happy accent. Find the tutorial here.
Idea 7- Group tons of candles
A great way to get a warm glow is to do the obvious… add candles. Group battery and non-battery, silver, bronze, classic, glass, modern candlesticks together for a unique take on the season.
Idea 8- Think outside the normal Christmas decor
A few clothespins and turn into the cutest decor idea! Top it with ribbon and voila – a sweet tree. Get the tutorial here.
Idea 9- Greenery picks are your friend
The craft stores always run specials of Christmas decorations. I bought these at the 1/2 price sale. I used them tucked in my mantle and I created a little bed of green for my sweet deer by just layering them. A simple way to create a luxe look.
Idea 10- When in doubt… put a bow on it.
I have taught thousands how to make Christmas bows with a simple tutorial. Fluffy bows are a great way to add Christmas cheer to your home. Find the tutorial here.
And…that’s my ten! I hope my little ideas spark your imagination.
