ORC Home Office Makeover Update Week 6
Week 6 is here and it’s time for a home office makeover update! So many details are coming together, let’s talk about it!
Hello friends, how are you? I am so glad you stopped by to check in on our progress. I am so thankful for the extra two weeks, it has been difficult procuring all the items needed to pull this off but let’s talk about where we are with this home office makeover update.
In the normal ORC, this post would be all about the big reveal and ahem… I would not be ready. So let’s make the most of these next two weeks!
If you are new to The Aspiring Home, WELCOME! I am so very glad you are here. If you are new to following the One Room Challenge – you are in for a treat! The featured designers and the guest participants are some of the most creative, kind, and supportive people I know. Most are virtual friends unless we meet up at a design/DIY conference. Linda, who created the ORC made the decision to cancel week 5 in order to be responsive to the tragedies we are facing in this country. To take last week and learn. To listen to our brothers and sisters who are undeniably suffering and to understand how we can be more. Then move forward together. That is what I am doing and I hope you will too.
So much is in progress or completed. A few things are stuck in transit and I am going to have to make adjustments but that’s ok. This is where creativity is birthed, right?
Paint
Last week I shared that I changed the ceiling paint color from Sherwin Williams AquaSphere to Sherwin Williams Stardew. Why the change? This room is on the smaller side and I wanted to keep the walls, built-ins, and even drapery neutral. I’m a huge fan of color and to keep from doing a room completely neutral – I took the color to the 5th wall (the ceiling) and I am letting color speak through the artwork and furnishings.
Speaking of furnishings…my elusive desk chair was delivered. It is just perfect.
Forgive my clutter, we are still unpacking and moving things around.
I have been sewing the curtains and pillows. Excited to show you the finished products on Reveal day.
By popular request, I will be writing the tutorial for these pinch pleat drop cloth curtains for you.
Next on our progress list would be the library wall.
Thanks to our friend who originally built the first set of bookcases we have all the pieces. We did it remotely and this weekend we will see how close we came.
Here is the quick sketch we went by:
The pieces are all primed and the painting has begun. My hubby is now as big of a believer in HomeRight spray guns as I am. This little jewel of a sprayer is cutting a week off of work.
Follow me on Instagram to catch my stories and see if these are gonna fit, ha!
The mesh wire I ordered for the doors is on backorder and I am hoping it comes in but here is another area where I am looking for option b just in case.
The amazing library ladder from Rockler will be making its debut this week! Woohoo!
The ceiling medallion
I have an idea, I know you are not surprised. I am going to build it first then show you… cause it may or may not work. ?
That’s about all the news I have for this week! I am determined to have more pictures of the space progress this week on Instagram. Click here if you want to follow along
Now you know where we are at, how about heading over to the One Room Challenge website for more inspiration.
