Build A Bench With This 3 Step Tutorial
Building a rustic modern bench is as easy as 1,2,3. Learn how simple it is to make your very own minimalist seating option with this 3 step tutorial.
I am so excited to share with you all the details of this gorgeous bench and it could not be easier to create. Let’s build a bench, shall we?
Supplies:
- 1 ft. x 10 ft. Plank
- Hairpin legs
- Stain (optional)
- Floor Protectors
You can find most of these items at your local hardware store.
Step 1:
Purchase the plank of your choice and distress or stain it in the color of your choice. I purchased a plank for a project a few years ago and that project never came to pass.
The plank unfortunately laid in the dirt for a couple of years or maybe it was fortunate because the patina from those years gave the plank a beautiful patina.
Step 2:
Purchase hairpin legs for your plank. I used these hairpin legs for my bench.
After a lot of research, I chose these particular legs because they are incredibly sturdy. Many hairpin legs are made from hollow tubes and I just didn’t want to take the chance of the bench collapsing.
For the length of the bench, I went with 6 legs for extra stability.
Step 3:
Attach the legs to the plank and VOILA! You have a bench!
So easy, right?!? What are you waiting for? π
and… if you would like to recreate the wood accent wall in this ORC makeover, I’ve got you.
Until later, keep creating home friends!

Hi Joy! I love the simplicity and reclaimed style of this bench. The artwork above the bench and pillow accents also add a nice touch. Lovely!
Hi Crissy! Thank you so much my friend, it was one of those quick rewarding projects- the kind that keeps you wanting to DIY. π
