ORC Week 3 Foyer Console Table Makeover

| |

ORC Week 3 update is here. We are at the halfway point of the challenge, I am nowhere near where I thought I would be, but I did do a little console table makeover!

We are seriously down by three weeks! YIKES!! It has been nonstop around here. Let me catch you up where we are on the ORC week 3.

We are still waiting on scaffolding so – hoping my moulding dreams come true. The mirror that I thought would work? It doesn’t. I am looking for a replacement. Sconces will go up in the next couple of days. The small rug has been replaced with a large round rug and it is so so pretty and I did a little console table makeover that really glammed it up!

So, guess what else is going on besides the One Room Challenge and hurricane Harvey damage? My youngest sister is getting married! Yep, and I have been busy making beautiful items and dusting off my wedding coordinator hat! Let me tell you – it’s pretty dusty! Ha.

I think week 4 will bring massive changes so stick with me ok? In the meantime,  here is a simple console table refresh project. I love reusing what I already own and this little beauty is one of my favorite little tables. I bought it about 20 years ago. I found it in my hometown mall to be more detailed- I found it in a store that was once the very spot my friends and I spent many hours playing video games.  Back then it was called Aladdin’s Arcade and back when it was “a thing” to meet up at the mall for Taco Bell, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Centipede. I also found it funny that my old haunt became a little import shop just a few years later.

If you know me, stories always have another layer – this time it involves stain. I am a sentimental soul and this little table holds sweet memories of my hubby and then three-year-old daughter working together to stain this little beauty so long ago.  I debated painting it but I came up with a solution… it’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone. I left the underside and backside in the original stain. Oh and the backside sports the moving van stickers. I know, I know, sentimental silly.

The table is blonde mahogany and is a softwood. I love the simple carvings. Since the foyer is vivid rustic glam – I decided to paint the table with Deco Art’s chalk paint and quickly highlighted the carvings with liquid gold leaf. If you are new to the Aspiring Home, you will find that Liquid gold leaf shows up quite a bit in our home.

Here’s a sneak peek of the console table makeover –

I love how the matte finish of the chalk paint (the rustic) plays against the gold gilding (glam). I can’t wait to show you the finished table in her new home- the foyer! Fingers crossed that I finish this space in time!
