2016 “No Place Like Home” Fall Home Tour

| | | |

Happy Fall Y’all!

I am so very excited to be taking part in a wonderful blog hop tour of Fall.  Today will be fun! Partnering with 7 other bloggers – you are sure to find some serious inspiration. I am thrilled to introduce you to these very talented ladies who have quickly become my friends thanks to this year’s Haven Conference.

You will be seeing a lot more from this awesome bunch as the holidays approach. We have several “No Place Like Home” gatherings planned!

Welcome to Our Home!

I love to decorate for fall – usually it is 90 degrees with a heat index of 105… pulling out the throws, candles, and fall wreaths just make me happy and hopeful for cooler weather. 🙂

Well, come on in!

The three pumpkins looked so cute on the stairs and begged to be a little more… add a little gold and voila! Happy Greetings!

The Dining Room~

I love having a dining room and use it every chance we get. The chairs are comfy and it is easy to spend time visiting and enjoying the company of friends and family. I wanted to do something a little different this year with the fall decor and started out with the traditional runner.  After setting the table I just wasn’t thrilled. It was pretty but not exactly what I was thinking.  As I was staring at the table I remember a beautiful plaid scarf buried in my closet.  I grabbed it, threw it on the table and it was perfect!

I am in love with the blue metallic chargers. They used to be silver and I took a chance and painted them… so glad I did! The china is our “wedding china” and I use it every chance possible. The little pumpkins started out as orange picks.

The Formal ~

Our formal living room is where we visit, read and listen to music. It is honestly one of my favorite spots in the house.  I love playing a great record and sinking into a comfy chair. We have had such great conversations in this room with family and friends. World problems are solved here…

I have a confession… I tend to buy a hodge podge of clearance candlestick holders. I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and paint them!  I’m beyond happy with the eclectic mix happening here.

The Breakfast Nook~

The decor for this little area came from a deep hurt that we have been dealing with. Our son has been  going through a tough time with a bully at school.  The bully has been relentless. Our son is learning how to deal with unprovoked meanness. Thankfully solutions are in the works but as our son has come to realize- meanness is a matter of the heart.  This is where the decor idea comes in… The Giving Tree.  I grabbed branches, a vase and some leaves and made a new tradition.  Everyday, we write a positive word, something to give thanks for.

Amazing how purposely finding the good everyday makes the not so good tolerable.

See the little cute cow? I needed a place to corral the dry erase markers and  this little butter dish works great!

This comfy area is a perfect place to watch the ol’ tv.  I added a little “Fall” with pillows here and the cutest  fox figurine I found at Hobby Lobby.

  1. Joy, your home is beautiful and it looks so pretty decorated for fall. I love your table setting. The plaid looks great! I would love to have all of you candlesticks on your mantle, and it looks stunning with the pumpkins on top. I have enjoyed doing this tour with you and I can not wait for all that we have planned for the holidays! You are a blessing to me!

  2. Hi Joy, so thrilled to peek inside your home…it’s beautiful. After your tour, my thoughts center on the trials that your son is enduring at school. Been there, done that and there’s no easy solution. But I think that your ‘thankful’ tree is a perfect example of trying to find some good in an otherwise difficult situation. Not only is it a great tool, but it fits perfectly with the rest of your fall decor. And, your son is a lucky young man to have parents who are looking for solutions/ways to cope like you are.
Those eclectic candlesticks look perfect on your mantle and that living room..yup I’d come cozy up and solve problems with you there any day.
Love that you thought of your scarf!! I need to learn to think outside the box like that more often. It works perfectly.
And Ricky Bobby can come home with me any day! Look at that face!

Thanks for the fantastic tour and looking forward to our next one!

    Hugs, Lynn

  3. Hi Joy,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with all of us. I giggled out loud when I spotted the horse head in your dinning room. I have the same one in my office. 🙂 The plaid scarf is perfect for the table. Isn’t it amazing what happens when we think outside the box. I need to do that more often. Most of all I love the thankful tree. What a beautiful way to help your son focus on the positive and learn ways to cope through a difficult situation. Happy fall my friend!!!!

  4. Joy, I love the meaning behind so much of your fall decor, especially the “giving” tree. Your home is beautiful, and I love the little pops of blue that you have sprinkled in. So pretty! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

  5. You have a beautiful home Joy! I am dying over all of the lit candles on your mantle, perfect choice! You are one very talented woman, and I am thrilled to know you! I love the gold touches you added to your pumpkins, and the list goes on because it is all gorgeous!

  6. I love seeing how others decorate for fall and really enjoyed my visit here. So many fantastic fall touches to a beautiful house. I really like your tablescape with the plaid scarf and the hearth area of your family room with the basket and 2 orange pumpkins sitting at just the right positions with the greenery looks great. Being honest about what your son is going through makes you a blogger with heart – my prayers are with you all.
